Compressor Efficiency Calculator

Calculate EER or COP. Results update in real-time.

The Compressor Efficiency Calculator is used to determine the energy efficiency of an HVAC compressor or system, typically expressed as Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) or Coefficient of Performance (COP). EER is commonly used for cooling systems and is calculated as the cooling capacity (BTU/hr) divided by the power input (Watts). COP is a dimensionless ratio of useful energy output (heating or cooling in Watts) to power input (Watts). This calculator takes the system's capacity and power input as inputs to provide these efficiency metrics.

Understanding EER, COP, SEER, and HSPF: EER measures cooling efficiency at specific conditions (95°F outdoor, 80°F/50%RH indoor). COP is a ratio of output to input power. SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) averages cooling efficiency over a season, while HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) does the same for heat pump heating. Higher values for all these ratings indicate better energy efficiency. This tool focuses on instantaneous EER/COP.

Important Disclaimer

This calculator performs basic EER/COP conversions. Ensure capacity and power input values are accurate and correspond to the same operating conditions (e.g., AHRI standard conditions). For official ratings, always refer to manufacturer specifications or AHRI directory. SEER and HSPF are seasonal ratings and differ from EER/COP.
